Dr Harrison Bennett - Cataract Surgeon

Harrison Bennett is a specialist eye surgeon trained in Queensland, with international subspecialty qualification in retinal surgery. He  provides cataract surgery services through the Rockhampton Eye Centre and operates at the Mater Hospital Rockhampton.


Dr Bennett graduated from University of Queensland with first class honours in medicine and surgery in 2014. He completed ophthalmology training in Queensland, gaining fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO). Dr Bennett was then selected for the world-renowned Vitreoretinal Fellowship at University of British Columbia, and was awarded a RANZCO scholarship for bringing this international experience back to Queensland.


Dr Bennett has performed thousands of surgeries for cataract and retinal diseases and has a special interest in complex cases and laser surgery. He has completed extensive subspecialty training in surgery of the vitreous, retina, and macula, and is one of few ophthalmologists in Australia with a formal qualification as a retina specialist (Diploma of Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada – Retina). Dr Bennett is also a Consultant Vitreoretinal Surgeon with Queensland Health, and in the public hospital is a surgical training supervisor for RANZCO, teaching the next generation of ophthalmologists.
